Starting shot for the first competition in a long time!

The "7 Summits Extreme" will start next Monday. For a long time this has been a competition that all extreme sports fans in this city can take part in. It is therefore important to climb the 7 Summits of Graz as quickly as possible in one day - only on foot or in combination with the bike. You can contest this competition until May 16, prerequisite for this is the "MapRun6" app, Start and The destination is the main square in Graz. And: Next week the “sporty sightseeing tour” will also be available using MapRun6.

"The 7 Summits have already achieved cult status, with this idea we have already caused a stir," explains City Councilor for Sports Kurt Hohensinner the secret behind it: “The action - that of Klaus Hoellbacher was launched - is very easy and can be implemented by everyone. That is why it is so popular. ”Numerous Grazers have already climbed or completed the 7 summits (Schöckl, Schloßberg / Hackher-Löwe, Fürstenstand, Lustbühel / satellite station, Buchkogel / Kronprinz-Rudolf-Warte, Stephanienwarte as well as St. Johann and Paul) Collective passes handed in at the sports office.

Now there is the variant for all die-hard people and all those who have been training particularly hard in the last few weeks and are eagerly waiting to be able to contest a competition: The starting signal for the "7 Summits Extreme" will be given on Monday. Up to and including May 16, all sports enthusiasts will have the chance to choose a personal day and climb all 7 Graz summits in one go. The procedure is very simple: You download the "MapRun6" app onto your mobile phone, go to the start / finish point on Graz's main square (Erzherzog-Johann-Brunnen), open the app, wait for confirmation that the starting point is was recognized by the app and then all you have to do is give full throttle. The seven peaks are marked on the map and can be seen as soon as you approach the stations, the mobile phone vibrates as a sign that you have reached the necessary point.

“We have two rating classes and six different age categories. Either you walk the entire route or you choose the combination with the bike. The order of the summits is also up to you. The only goal is to return to the main square, that is crucial, ”explains the program coordinator Markus Pichler. The entire process is recorded via the MapRun, so swindling and trickery (e.g. driving a car) should be ruled out. “We appeal to sportsmanship and fairness. In addition, for your own safety, the traffic regulations must of course be observed anywhere and at any time, ”says Pichler.

It is also important for the participants: The smartphone used should be fully charged, additional energy consumers should be switched off if possible. With older smartphones and batteries, it is also recommended to take additional mobile batteries (power banks) with you.
